Advanced Lighting Method in Maya
In this maya tutorial we are going to see some of the advanced method of lighting a character by using layer method and rendering it through batch render.
First create a new scene and import the character you want.
And then go to render and create a new layer by selecting the character. And name it as Ambient layer. Like wise you create new layers with the character selected as shown in the image.
I have create a occlusion layer, key light source layer and a over all fill layer.
By selecting the ambient layer go to create>light>ambient light. And press ctrl A. The ambient light attributes will open reduce the ambient shade to 0.0
Render the scene.
And next go to the occ layer and right clicking the layer select presets select occlusion.
I have rendered the occlusion layer now im going to show you how to light a scene this can be said as master lighting for a character.
Go to key layer select a spot light make the shadow value to 2048 and the filter size to 5 and palace the postion in which the key source come from the scene.
In the fill layer i have used a point light in which i have given the intensity to 0.2 and i have used various colors in every light and i have added shadow so that the character get more depth.
The highlighted area in red watch it now this is major step in this advanced lighting method. In ambient layer let that layer as normal and in occlusion make it as multiply and in key layer and fill light layer make it as screen.
Now go to options select render all layers.
Now render the scene.
After all i render the scene i used a simple back ground and hope u like this tutorial.
